DC-based actress Ali Wentworth (you know her from “In Living Color” and Jerry Maguire), who’s currently starring in the low-rated “Head Case” serial on the Starz! network and is married to ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, is struggling to get back in the limelight now that her children are growing up.
First, she was in talks with officials from TMZ.com’s Washington gossip project, which left her *bleep* out of luck after the project went on hold indefinitely this spring.
Recovering from that setback, Wentworth this morning headed over to guest host “The View” with her pal Barbara Walters. A source close to the actress tells us that the appearance was a miniature audition as producers attempt to fill two open seats on the morning chat fest by this fall.
But if Wentworth had any hopes of getting the job, they were dashed after she stuck her foot in her mouth when speaking of her past syndicated morning show failure, called “Living it Up! With Ali & Jack,” which aired ever-so-briefly in 2003-4.
Wentworth said live on air on that “Ali & Jack” was not right for her “nighttime sensibilities.” She added that she didn’t know she’d be doing perky decopodge projects before she inked that deal. Hence, the show and her didn’t mesh, and it was soon cancelled.
Hello? “The View” features craft project segments all the freakin’ time. Sometimes they even have fashion shows and ridiculous dance numbers where strapping young men dress up as toilet paper rolls and throw confetti at the audience.
Common sense says that if Wentworth truly wanted this gig, she might have kept her yap shut — at least until Babs picked her.
