OK, OK, so we can’t just lead you on with a little tidbit about a former plagiarizing Georgetown college vixen who changed her name, moved to NYC, got a wildly overpaid job at Star magazine, and once shagged politico Harold Ford, Jr. without sharing a little more salaciousness about the junior Ford’s current and past gal pals. Right?
Big Head DC recently spotted the former Congressman from Tenn. celebrating his freshly-inked talking head deal with FOX News at a Washington hotel with his hotter than hot newish blond girlfriend Emily Threlkeld, a PR know-it-all at the Carolina Herrara fashion house.
When informed of the sighting, a past Ford muse (who he’s apparently worked quite hard to keep on the down low) asked us to look into how the deep-pocketed Threlkeld, who maintains residences in NYC and a posh section of Miami, got to know the hunky power player.
And - oh! - the trails a spurned heart heart will lead you.
According to campaign finance donation records from Ford’s failed bid for Senate in November, Threlkeld donated over $4,000 to help out the ambitious dreamy-eyed stallion.
While he didn’t end up getting that Senatorial seat, he seems to have gotten something even better - and much prettier - in return.
Both Ford and Threlkeld have yet to return requests for comment. But, really, can wedding bells be that far away? If Threlkeld can afford to lay down the bucks, you can bet on it.

To my knowledge, Harold has only been linked with one black woman. Did she turn him against black women or, has Harold decided to be true to himself?
As a long time Memphis boy, I can tell you that JR only dates white women. And he never dates them publicly in Memphis when he’s running for office. Just like his dear old daddy.
Emily Threlkeld is a known lesbian. She resides in NYC with Debra J. Beard, her roommate and lover.

I’ve known her family for years. Debra Beard is mother married to Anson Beard Jr, her stepfather. She is not a lesbian and never has been. Harold and Emily have been together to two years.

I am disgusted to see all of the bad mouthing that has been going on about both Harold Ford Jr. and Emily Threlkeld (a personal and dear friend of mine for my entire life.) To set the record straight, Ford Jr. and Emily have been involved for the past 2 and a half years and have a very loving and supportive relationship with one another. Anyone else that has not been around this couple has absolutely no room to talk and should stop the gossip.
Emily is not a lesbian and Deborah Beard is her mother. Who ever wrote such nonsense has way to much free time on their hands and should perhaps take up a new hobby. Try jogging, it is great for the mind body and soul.
The fact that Ford Jr. would be with Emily for her money is ridiculous as well. Once again, one should not spread rumors on topics that they know nothing about. Emily has worked hard to get to where she is in her life and should not be persecuted for it.
Lastly, for anyone that is now not supporting Ford Jr. because he is dating interracially, 1954 called and they would like back their disgusting racial views. You should be ashamed of yourself. Someone with such an ignorant mind should not be allowed to vote anyways.

I just want to say thanks to Shauna for getting the facts straight. I’ve known Emily my entire life, we’re cousins, and is one of the nicest, sweetest, hardest working women I’ve ever met. Harold is a great guy too, he endured a family Christmas party 2 years ago and if he’s still with Emily that’s saying a lot, lol!!
The whole issue on race . . . this isn’t the 70’s anymore. Interracial marriages are highly prevalant and has nothing to do with whether or not you love someone. Ignorance is not always bliss.

This is truly a sad story. The fact that an african american feels as though he needs to marry a white women to be accepted in society is just ignorant. He is only doing this because he feels forced to make this decision. The worst part is that people don’t marry for love when they are in these situations. Marriage is not something to be played with. When you don’t marry for love it will never last. He can hang up running for governor because if your marriage is based on a lie, what other lies will come forth as governor?

Has it ever occurred to you that he may LOVE Emily? Is the thought of loving someone that is of different color so foreign to you? That explains you writing “he feels forced to make this decision”…. and that he is not marrying for love. Another blogger/another site, wrote that…”how could he do this to his people?” I just want to laugh and shake my head in disgust. I think it is people like you that he is trying to escape. Emily Threlkeld went to St. Ann School in Naples, FL, with my son, Kendrick Tucker, Jr. I have known Emily’s father, Tom, her mother, Debbie Beard, nee DePasquale, nee Threlkeld, for many years, albeit I have not seen daughter and mother for some time. These are two women are the finest people you could ever meet, and Emily (this is so laughable), being accused of sleeping with her mother, deserves no comment whatsoever.
Sorry many African Americans are upset about this marriage, which I understand took place in Miami last night. You can bet there was absolutely nothing but GOODNESS there. These two (Harold and Emily) would have no “motive”, including money, of all things, for marrying. So, to those who are upset for any reason, I say, politely, it’s none of your business.

You also might Google: Joe Creason, Creason Clayton, and the late Paul “Bear” Bryant, who was my maternal grandfather’s best friend. Both the latter two started out in life with a dime not. Read how Coach Bryant became the mightiest football coach in the 20th century, and helped my grandfather get started at U of KY, by purchasing sports gear from my g.f.’s sporting goods store in Mayfield, KY, when G.F. was hanging on by his nails. (His obit was in the Chicago Tribune, etc.,) his wife, my granny barely finished high school. The Bear was one of the forebearers in putting blacks on football field, and coached Joe Namath to fame. Fair to say my sister and I were never in want for Orange Bowl tickets. Now, start reading and quit judging. YOU are the problem with this country’s racial tensions right NOW, not the likes of any of us, and you have no idea if we have multi-racial marriages in our extended families or not.
