Are Male Short Shorts Really Coming Back?

The Reliable Source featured an item this weekend about the heckling endured by the Redskins’ Chris Cooley after he showed up to an offseason practice last week wearing “snug, hipbone-skimming shorts.”

The always-sassy (and seemingly-horny) writers of the column, Amy Argetsinger and Roxanne Roberts, now wonder whether Cooley will help foster a comeback for the fashion statement, which went out of style sometime during the late 1980s.

“Get used to this look, fellas,” the gossip gals said with a hint of snark. ”Next summer, you’ll probably all be wearing it.”

But, really, can the sometimes stuffy Washington set pull this look off again?

It is about time that shorts for men actually became shorts again. I’m not sure what to call the to the knees things, that have been on the market for far to long. I would like to know why men can not be as cool in the summer as the ladies. The swimwear that we are suppose to wear is just another atrocious idea of the fashion industry. It is almost like swimming with a pair of full length pants, where is the enjoyment in swimming with all that wet cloth around your body. The seed that was planted, that if you wear a short that is above your knee that it is gay, was very well done by the fashion industry. I am glad to know that my wife has the option to wear anything she wants without being ridiculed, just as the rest of the female population. I think it is time to lose the gay connotations and let males enjoy as many options.
