As we reported last week, thousands of fans of the shock jocks were outraged (enough to smash their transmitters) when the XM Satellite Radio duo was put on temporary hiatus for airing a segment that made sexual references to Laura Bush and Condi Rice. In an event that we’re told may be related, we can confirm that XM Satellite Radio suffered a major outage today. Insiders tell us that the company’s XM3 satellite has mysteriously lost its downlinking capability.
One popular theory is that Opie and Anthony fans have unleashed a virus into the XM system, based largely in DC and NYC. Virus experts have indeed been emlisted.
A radio consultant/expert tell Big Head DC at this hour that “it’s a real possibility.”
