I am guilty of walking M Street like its a runway. Alert the Fashion Police, its true. Aviators on, I stroll about window shopping/people watching. Now I can do it for a cause.
I recently did a photo shoot for Fashion Fights Poverty. While it was probably the greatest day of my life, having my hair done by Audry Hemphill and make-up artist James Cornwell (both of PR @ Partners and Pretty Makeup), I learned to “Dress Responsibly.”
Coming from the girl who moved to the East Coast with a single suitcase, and in 18 months has single handedly accumulated enough to stock any local boutique, I was educated on how what you buy really matters.
I’ll be honest, I am fashionably bankrupt when it comes to knowing how clothes are manufactured. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to learn what a difference it makes getting your t-shirt from American Apparel as opposed to the Gap.
I fortunately was blessed to be adorned in a lovely couture gown by Kimberly Robinson of Kimbery Kouture, but I learned that ethical clothing can be on the runway, or even on MY runway (M Street) in a pair of Levi 100% organic cotton jeans.
Check out the list of retailers allowing you to “Dress Responsibly” and look for more updates on their big event in October…
Enjoy a Fashionable Friday!

This is very very unfunny. Congratulations!
