Well, kids, we made a mad dash back from spring break last night to pop in on the big Washington kickoff of Hillary’s fundraising campaign, hosted by none other than Mr. Bill Clinton. Before the dynamic duo appeared, some drunken bigwig donors started blabbing to us about the Clinton household’s carbon footprint (yawn), so we politely checked out to grab another drink — and made a mental note to turn on all the lights when we got home.
Later, when Hillary took the stage to thank her supporters (who contributed $2.7 million during the event last night alone), she said she hasn’t had a lot of time to personally deal with reducing the electricity used in her New York residence. But she added that her hubby takes pleasure in going around the house replacing incandescents with longer-lasting flourescents.
Somehow picturing Bill on a ladder changing light bulbs just didn’t seem presidential to us, so we later asked former DNC chairman Terry McCauliffe — and best friend of Bill — whether that story rings true.
“Not sure,” McAuliffe chuckled. “He probably oversees the changing of the bulbs.”
Or maybe he just oversees the pretty lady up on the ladder?
