On Friday we brought you this video, in which Rep. David Obey let loose on what he called “idiot liberals”:

Today, we bring you deeper into the story with some thoughts from military mom Tina Richards, who was shown in the video questioning the Congressman from Wisconsin about his stance on the war. 

“What happened with Obey was very unexpected,” Richards told Big Head DC over the weekend.  ”The encounter was on Monday (March 5). We held it until Thursday. We really thought it showed his frustration and that we in the peace movement just want to talk and to hear ideas.”

Richards said that she and organizers with Grassroots America, the group that helped her tape and release the video, did not expect Obey’s rant to provide as much “fodder to the right wing” as it has. 

She says that she accepts Obey’s apology, which was offered on Friday, and she is looking for sponsors to help continue her anti-war crusade in DC.
