National Journal writer/freelance God Murray Waas is getting some heat — and not from the City Paper for a change. Bloggers have been griping about his use of the word “irregardless,” which is indeed a word, but not a word that a journalist of Waas’ stature should be using, apparently.
“All right, all right I heard you,” he wrote in his blog last night. “I apologize to any reader…for the use of the word ‘irregardless’…in my Huckabee post earlier this day. Who would have thought anyone was even reading in the first place? The post has since been updated and changed, with the word ‘irrespective’ used in the place of ‘irregardless.’ If that isn’t correct, aargh….”
If anyone else has any more word-y complaints, the journalist has this special offer: become a proof reader/copy editor of his lovely blog. Um, how much does it pay, Murray?
