A Discovery Communications insider tells Big Head DC that the company placed enormous pressure on Terri Irwin, the widow of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, to hit the promotional circuit to hype his last documentary, which was simulcast Sunday night on the Discovery and Animal Planet channels.
“She seems to be holding up amazingly well,” says our source based out of Discovery’s Silver Spring headquarters. “But I wonder how ready she was for all of this?”
Holding back tears at times, Terri spoke at the National Press Club on Friday as part of her recent whirlwind U.S. tour promoting her husband’s last bit of work. Just like she did during recent appearances on The Tonight Show and The View, she provided lots of important information on wildlife and conservation, but some say it’s all happened a bit too soon after Steve’s death.
“Her precocious child, Bindi Sue, is everywhere talking like an adult,” said one female attendee of the NPC event, “when she should be home grieving.”
While Terri and Bindi Sue have waited less than five months to carry on Steve’s mission, both have said that they were ready to move forward.
