We’ve often tried to convince people that the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a beautiful vacay spot filled with all the wonders of nature’s beauty — even in the face of many a blank stare from several über hip District residents.

We’re done.

Our hometown newspaper, The Sault Evening News , has reported a UFO sighting on a street we’ve actually traveled:

SAULT STE. MARIE - Sault Police were summoned to the 1000 block of E. 7th Avenue on Wednesday on reports of an unidentified flying object hovering in that area. The device was described as having a very shiny top — like the face shield of an astronaut helmet — and it hovered noiselessly in the area for close to an hour. 

While police might have dismissed the report had it come from a lone individual, neighbors and other supported the original callers claims of a strange object hovering in the sky.

One of the people on the scene summed up the experience with the phrase: “Not from this world.”

Like the face shield of a fucking astronaut helmet, you say? Yeah, the Upper Peninsula is much too far for a vacation.
